Upon your return (accreditation of external courses)

Upon returning from your stay abroad or your time at another university, students must request that their completed academic attainments are credited to their course. In order to do so, the following documents are to be submitted to the Departmental Staff Office:

  • Completed accreditation form: Accreditation of external academic study achievements (EXCEL, 45KB) (document in German)
  • Copy of the transcript of records from the host university; if the host university does not use the ECTS grading scale, an additional explanation of the scale, drawn up by the host university, should be attached.
  • In the event that a Learning Agreement was not submitted to the Departmental Staff Office before departure, please submit a brief description of the courses taken (excerpt from the course catalog, printout of the website in question, or similar). Please also include an official level classification (Bachelor’s or Master’s level).
  • If the host university does not use the ECTS system, the following specifications (including sources) need to be submitted: how many credits have to be earned for a student to graduate? How long is the standard duration of study (number of semesters or trimesters)? How long is a semester or trimester at the host university?

The Departmental Staff Office will check the documents that have been submitted and will offer a suggestion for accreditation (in consultation with the lecturers). Please only submit a copy of your transcript of records: you do not need to submit the original documents. Once students receive their original transcript of records, they must be presented to the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Social Sciences. For more information relating to the verification of the transcript of records, please consult the Dean’s Office.
